MY BEDTIME STORY: Southwestern Dreamzzz
Howdy Partnerzzz,
I was recently in Dallas for work. I had been there just once about seven years ago but only for an overnight, and I never really had a chance to immerse myself in the city.
But I’ve never met a cowboy hat I didn’t like. And anyone who knows me, knows I have at least 3 pairs of vintage cowboy boots in circulation all Winter, Spring and Fall---from iconic bootmakers like Dan Post, Justin and Tony Lama.
So, on this trip (for the Cattle Baron’s Ball, the American Cancer Society’s largest annual fundraiser), I was thrilled that I got to spend some time checking out the city and soaking up all that infectious southwestern spirit, hospitality, and style.
The Cattle Baron’s Ball was at Southfork Ranch, which is where the ’80s hit TV show Dallas was filmed — and yes, I am old enough to remember when that show was a massive hit and “Who shot J.R.?” was on everyone’s lips. As I walked through the ranch’s Ewing Mansion — which is so over the top, you just can’t help but die again and again from room to room — I found myself dreaming of what it might be like if the bedrooms were updated and modernized. Let’s face it, my mind is always fixated on what can happen when I get my hands on a bedroom!
Fittingly my inspiration for this week is “Old Southwestern Ranch Vibezzz” but with a 2024 dollop of hot sauce. Shop some of my favorite bedroom and sleep finds to get your cowpoke on…just remember, no boots in bed. (Unless you’re into that kink. In that case, yeehaw!).
Happy sleepin’ y’all---
xx
