I’m reporting in from Post-Menopause Central. Let me tell you—I realized somewhere along the way that my menopause didn’t have to mean constant sluggish mornings, sleepless nights, or a body that feels like an imposter. Since I embraced a daily ritual of supplements (about two years of testing, changing, adding, deleting), my life has changed in ways I never expected. Body and brain boosters like moringa, ashwagandha, magnesium, collagen, creatine, and a hefty dose of pre and probiotics have become my trusty co-pilots. I sleep better, my mornings and my days feel sharper and weirdly, go by faster; and my body and brain are cooperating with me in ways they haven’t in about a decade!

My mornings begin the same way before anything else touches my lips: a mug of hot lemon water with cayenne, cinnamon, and ginger (my French Press coffee now plays second fiddle). Sometimes I even take the lemon water combo about an hour or so before bed. This simple ritual, combined with my supplements, my breakfast shake (happy to share my recipe!) and lots of exercise, keep me trim, make my gut happy (lots of “movement,” if you catch my drift), and give me a sense of psychological and physical balance that menopause didn’t really warn me about losing. For me, it’s not just about “surviving midlife”; it’s about thriving in it. The ritual of nourishing my body from the inside out has transformed my energy, my focus, and my overall daily mood. I feel strong and energized, and every night I sleep better than I have in years! I also like knowing I’ve given my body what it needs to truly function at its peak.
Menopause and midlife are vastly different for everyone; for example, I never did HRT, mostly because my symptoms were never severe. But now that I am post-menopause and essentially the poster child for midlife, I do believe that I’ve landed on the right combination of supplements, exercise and ritual for my own well-being, and it’s become a stage of life that has felt less scary and more energizing.
